Week 36 – 7 Ways To Simplify Your life

I’ve struggled for many years to define what spirituality means to me.  Perhaps I was trying too hard to confine the definition of spirituality into a small and tidy box or strictly against the doctrines of one religion. I am just beginning to discover a broader perspective of how spirituality is a vibrant part of my life.

Spirituality is as simple or as complex as you want it to be. Many define spirituality as a valued connection to a greater power, vcialis 40mg however they describe that power. Spirituality is at the core of your inner strengths and provides you with guidance and support on a daily basis.  But it is much more than that.

  •  Spirituality is physical.  It is living and fulfilling our life’s purpose and living a principled life.  Spirituality is experiential as well as conceptual and spiritual wisdom is acquired through life’s experiences.  It is about nurturance and renewal of self.
  •  Spirituality is social.  It is the intimate connections we seek with all life forms, a treasuring of kinship with our families, friends and others we meet along the way.  Welcoming others graciously into our home and our life, loving and being sensitive towards others are spiritual acts.
  •  Spirituality is spirit.  It is a philosophy of life.  It is being open to the wonders of life.  It is living ethically and with integrity.  It is our connection to and belief in a higher power and our private communication with that higher power.  It is praise, adoration, devotional prayer and faith that guardian angels are watching over us.
  •  Spirituality is intellectual.  It is about inner exploration and finding the truths about one’s self.  Spirituality embraces imagination, strategic thinking, curiosity and it expands our horizons.  It’s about seeking meaning in life through refection and having a vision for a better world.

Understanding your spiritual self may take a lifetime, and even though spirituality can be an elusive concept to define, there are ways to understand more fully what role spirituality plays in your life. You can begin to understand the full scope of your spirituality by completing the following three statements:

  1. For me, spirituality means…
  2. Living spiritually in my everyday life looks like…
  3. I draw on my own spirituality when…

By reflecting on the meaning of spirituality, you will gain a better understanding of what it means for you and how it manifests in your everyday life.  Ultimately you are the champion of your own spiritual life.

Have you ever wondered how you would respond if someone asked you to define success?  What would you say?  And what is the true measure of a successful life?  When someone tells you that success is working in the corner office of a global corporation and earning a six figure income or owning a condo in downtown Manhattan, vcialis 40mg are they defining success generally or is it their individual perspective on what success is?  Success is measured in as many ways as there are people defining it. Here’s a sampling of success.

  • Cultivating and bringing the abundant riches within your soul riches to full fruition while you discover all that you are and all that you can become.
  • Embracing your fears and finding the courage to work through those fears.  Success is never giving up in the face of adversity.
  • Giving for the pure joy of making the gift.  The more you give the more you get back in life.
  • Being here in the present moment, pills living life to its fullest, enjoying and making the most of the precious time you have.
  • Knowing that beauty is defined from the inside. Beauty defined from the outside is subject to too many differing points of view and is of little value to your sense of self-worth.
  • Being able to let go when your heart tells you it’s time.  Unhealthy attachments keep you imprisoned in the mind while letting go frees the heart.
  • Making time to be with friends and family, to nourish your soul and warm your heart.  It is opening your heart and sharing your love with those whose hearts are closed.
  • Loving and laughing every chance you get.
  • Quieting your mind to reflect and contemplate your life so you can re-ignite your imagination and rejuvenate your spirit.
  • Being open to learning throughout your whole life.  Each new day has something to teach you, whether it comes from others, from circumstances or from within.
  • Living your life with zest and contentment.

Success is all of the above and none of the above at the same time.  It is intensely personal and yours to define. No one else can define what success is for you, except you.  If you want to get a real appreciation of all the success you achieve in your life, get into the habit of keeping a journal of your many accomplishments, big or small.  You’ll astound yourself when you realize how much success you already have achieved.

It’s easy to get down when life is moving at a dizzying pace and we’re feeling totally frazzled and exhausted. During those times, we can easily forget the small moments in life that bring us real joy.  Yes, it’s true that we should focus our energies on achieving our life’s goals and doing our daily chores, but they should never be at the expense of the precious moments that give meaning to our lives.  If you find yourself frazzled and depleted of energy, try drawing energy from your inner spirit.

  • Make time each day, however small, to pursue the things that you are passionate about and bring you much joy.  This could be listening to your favourite music, reading a poem, spending time with your family, cooking, etc. It will make the other things that need to be done easier to do.
  • When you’re feeling challenged, remember to draw on your courage and inner strengths.  They will provide the wisdom you need at that time and help you get over the rough patches.
  • Be patient with yourself.  Often times, we work so hard at achieving our goals that we forget to enjoy the outcomes achieved through those goals and to pay attention to all that is good in our lives.  It’s important to take time to live in the moment, every day.
  • When life gets tough, take a few minutes to express gratitude for everything that is going well in your life.  You will instantly feel better and gain energy.
  • Find a child to spend an hour with.  I guarantee you’ll feel refreshed and energized.

Positive energy comes from enjoying the journey we’re on.  It also comes from overcoming the challenges we all face in our daily lives.  Ultimately, positive energy comes from within when we allow ourselves to appreciate the full human experience that we are all having.

We’ve all had those days when the mountain of things that need doing seems insurmountable.  We go to bed in the evening feeling exhausted and wondering how we keep getting ourselves into these situations of constant over-booking and over-planning.  Then the guilt hits.  We feel guilty that we’re not the perfect spouse; that we don’t spend enough quality time with our children, that we neglect friendships.  We lament that we don’t have time to do fun things any more.

More often than not, troche these situations occur because we jam our days with too many things and create unrealistic plans which make us feel as if we’re on an endless treadmill. There are ways to get off that treadmill, sildenafil to regain balance and find more joy in life. To make sure that simplifying your life doesn’t become yet another thing to add to an already too long list, take small steps to make meaningful changes that will simplify your life.

  1. Start by getting a really cool day planner, one that reflects your personality.  If you really love it, you’ll be more inclined to use it.
  2. Get in the habit of using your day planner to track all your activities, appointments, to-do’s and everything else that goes on in your life that needs tracking. This will allow you to see all that is on your plate and help you make smart decisions about what gets done on any particular day.
  3. Practice saying no to small things that are not priority in your life.  If you can say no to at least one thing each day, you’ll quickly see a big change in how you feel.
  4. Make time for yourself first thing in the morning, even if it’s only for 10-15 minutes.  This will give you time to take a deep breath and start your day on the right foot.  You can review what’s in your day planner and if decide if there are things on that list that need to be moved or removed.
  5. In the evening, take a few minutes (10-15 minutes) to recognize all that you’ve accomplished that day.  Applaud yourself for all that got done and simply move the things that didn’t get done to another day.  You’ll soon find that you’ve create a new habit of focusing your day on the most important things that need to get done.
  6. Build one relaxing activity into your day, an activity you love and one that will let you unwind and decompress. Even 10-15 minutes will make a big difference.  It could be a walk which doubles as exercise, enjoying a cup of coffee, listening to your favourite music or any other activity that give you great pleasure.
  7. Make time for your family and make that time a non-negotiable appointment in your day planner.  The connection and support your get from your family will make the rest easier to tackle.  You can ask them for help and delegate some of the things that need doing so you can mark them off your list.

These small steps will help you regain control over your long to-do list. But you may also have to face the harsh reality that you can’t have it all, do it all and still keep smiling.  Simplifying your life does not mean giving up on your dreams and what’s important to you, but it will help you focus on what’s most important.
